Child daycare and early education
The state government focuses on early support right from the start, as early childhood education is of great socio-political importance. The foundations for children's successful development are laid in early childhood. The aim of the state government is to provide all children with the best possible educational opportunities from an early age. Child daycare makes a significant contribution to this.
Early access to good education, upbringing and care opens up opportunities for the best possible future for our children. High-quality and reliable childcare services support and facilitate the compatibility of family and career. The needs-based expansion of childcare places and improving the quality of early education are therefore two closely related priorities of the ministry.
For the kindergarten year 2025/2026, a total of 216,162 places were registered for children under the age of three, 151,402 of which are in daycare facilities and 64,760 in childminders. A total of 542,856 childcare places are available for children over the age of three. Of these, 539,448 places are in childcare facilities and 3,408 in childminders
The state government will continue to support the expansion of childcare in the long term and invest in the quality of early childhood education.
