Climate sleuths prevention project

Health and environment in kindergarten

In the course of a kindergarten year, children aged 3 to 6 learn in a playful way how they can positively influence planetary and human health through their own actions.

Background of the program

The consequences of climate change will become a growing health challenge for everyone in the future. Children are a particularly vulnerable group that will be heavily exposed to the negative effects. In view of this problem, it is necessary to raise children's awareness of the interaction between the environment and health at an early age. The Children's Health Foundation has therefore developed the prevention program "Klimaspürnasen - Gesundheit und Umwelt im Kindergarten" in cooperation with the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) health insurance company.

Contents and objectives of the program

Children between the ages of three and six can learn about the connections between planetary and human health with the climate sleuths. With illustrative games and experiments, kindergarten children are sensitized to an environmentally conscious and healthy lifestyle and their personal responsibility with regard to environmental protection and health is specifically promoted. Participating kindergartens receive a free, high-quality, scientifically developed package of materials with detailed educational activities, photocopies and exciting experiments and game ideas.

Free order

On the "Klimaspürnasen-Homepage", interested institutions from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia can register free of charge and order the material folders. Here you will also find digitized materials as well as valuable information and tips for parents that complement the holistic concept of the program.
