Promoting physical activity in daycare centers

Movement, play and physicality are particularly important for the general development of children.

Exercise promotes overall development

Children have a natural joy and ability to move. For them, movement is both exploring and understanding the world. They use their various senses, such as touch, sight, hearing, balance and smell, to seek out differentiated experiences.

Children therefore need a stimulating environment that allows them to experience a variety of sensory and movement experiences and in which they can create their own movement challenges. Positive movement experiences in childhood strengthen self-esteem and support the child's personal development.

Movement as an important learning opportunity

Promoting physical activity should therefore be a common thread running through children's everyday lives and meet children's needs for movement and play. Together with sports clubs, daycare facilities and daycare centers, Sportjugend NRW actively shapes children's living environments and influences them positively.
