All the children eat together

The guidelines for the “All Children Eat Together” Hardship Fund have been extended through July 31, 2028.

In the coming school and kindergarten year, it will still be possible to provide financial assistance in cases of hardship to cover the cost of school lunches and school trips. This applies to cases of hardship—specifically children and adolescents—who, for certain reasons, are not covered by the Education and Participation Package (BuT), such as children and adolescents from families,

  • who have only a similar level of financial resources (subsistence-level needs plus 20%),
  • whose families do not have sufficient financial resources due to consumer bankruptcy or other financial burdens resulting from specific individual circumstances,
  • who, due to an unsecured legal status, do not receive benefits under the Social Code (SGB) or the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, yet still live in North Rhine-Westphalia, or
  • whose parents cannot be reached for a variety of reasons, but for whom the institutions see an urgent need for action.

The program is intended to enable as many children and adolescents as possible to participate in communal lunches and school trips.
