This means that it will still be possible in the coming school and kindergarten year 2024/2025 to provide a cost subsidy for shared lunches and the costs of participating in a school trip in cases of hardship. A case of hardship exists if children and young people are not covered by the education and participation package (BuT) for certain reasons. This is the case, for example, for children and young people from families who

• who only have financial resources of a similar amount (living expenses plus 20%),
whose families do not have sufficient financial resources due to consumer insolvency or other financial burdens due to special individual circumstances,who do not receive benefits under the SGB or the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act due to an unsecured legal status and still live in NRW or
• whose parents cannot be contacted for a variety of reasons, but who urgently require action from the facilities

The program aims to enable as many children and young people as possible to participate in shared lunches and school trips.
